Information and Technology Services
The University provides a wide range of ICT services to support teaching and learning. ICT support staff are available to assist with any technology-related issues you may experience. This includes help with Connect Accounts, Waikato Accounts (including activation support), printing on campus, Wi-Fi and internet access, computer labs (including Chromebook loans and remote access), software support such as Microsoft 365, and storing your work and files. Another helpful resource as it provides more indepth how-to and problem-solving information, is Tech Hub: Tech Hub (behind SSO, but Class Reps will mostly be helping students who have a Waikato Account and can get to this). Tech Hub also has Tech Chat – a virtual knowledge assistant.

UniSafe operates 24/7 and is responsible for campus safety, lost property, parking, and emergency preparedness. They also offer a SafeWalk service if students feel unsafe getting to or from their vehicle (if your vehicle is parked on Campus).

The chaplaincy team seeks to nurture the spirituality of students and staff, encouraging you to work
out your faith within your academic disciplines and vocations. The chaplains and their volunteer
assistants provide a listening ear, reflection and feedback. Just drop in at the Lady Goodfellow Chapel on the Hamilton Campus or make an appointment to see Brother Andrew when he visits

Careers & Employability Services
The Careers & Employability team supports students and recent graduates (up to two years after
completing study) with career planning and job readiness. They provide workshops, career expos,
industry connections, drop-in sessions, and one-on-one appointments to guide you on your employability and career journey. The team also runs the Employability Plus Award (EPA), where you can gain recognition for volunteering roles both on and off campus (including class representative
positions).

The International Student Services Team (ISSO) helps students settle into campus life, connect with
events, and feel supported throughout their journey, ensuring a smooth and successful experience.
The ISSO team provides assistance in areas such as international orientation, events and trips, study abroad and exchange programmes, general support and pastoral care, immigration and student visa information, and medical and travel insurance.

These include various self-help guides covering topics such as database navigation and citation
management, designed to help students optimise their research process and enhance the quality of
their academic work.
Tailored subject guides are also available, featuring recommended resources, databases,
referencing advice, and search tips. If students still need support after reviewing the self-help guides, they can request a consultation with a librarian.

Accessibility Services supports students with disabilities or impairments by providing tailored
assistance and fostering an inclusive environment for equitable access to campus life. This includes support for sensory impairments (vision, hearing), physical impairments (mobility), neurodiversity (e.g. dyslexia, ADHD, ASD), mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD), medical impairments (e.g. chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions), as well as temporary impairments. Services offered include alternative test and exam arrangements, notetaking support, body doubling, New Zealand Sign Language interpreters, resources in alternative formats, and assistive technology.

Student Health Service offers comprehensive medical, nursing, and free Mental Health & Wellbeing services across both Hamilton and Tauranga campuses.
General Practice Clinic - Hamilton
- Routine appointments with doctors and nurses
- Same-day urgent doctor’s appointments via nurse triage (phone and ask to speak to a nurse)
- Nurse Prescriber appointments are available for common conditions (e.g. UTIs, asthma, contraception, skin infections, coughs, sexual health screens and STI treatment, eczema, acne, hayfever).
Tauranga Student Health Service
- Student Health Nurse available Mondays – Thursday for support with physical and mental health concerns, and treatment for common conditions.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Team

Routine and same-day urgent appointments are available
Team and services include:
- Mental Health Nurses: Assessment, support planning, and treatment for conditions like depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, psychosis, ADHD, self-harm/suicidal thoughts, complex histories.
- Alcohol & Other Drug Clinician: One-to-one support for students around alcohol and other drugs, wanting to reduce or stop substance use.
- Social Worker: Support for mental health and violence-related challenges, service navigation, whānau connection, and community engagement; access to resources (food, safe housing, financial support)
- Counsellors: Short-term counselling for study challenges, stress, bereavement, relationships, homesickness, mild-moderate AoD or ADHD challenges, and trauma/violence-related support.
Violence Prevention
- Workshops, online learning, campaigns and events to support students.
- The Violence Prevention Coordinator can provide support with service navigation, the university complaints pathway related to interpersonal violence, and safety planning.
