TAURANGA CAMPUS
The University of Waikato’s Tauranga Campus offers the local community and the people of the Bay of Plenty easier access to the university study, lifestyle and qualifications. Classes are delivered by University of Waikato lecturing staff- either Tauranga based or commuting from the Hamilton campus, enabling students to obtain a University of Waikato degree in Tauranga. Like all Waikato Students, those studying at the Tauranga campus are full members of the Waikato Students’ Union and can access all the services it offers.
Tauranga Campus have their own branch of the Waikato website: www.uwt.waikato.ac.nz
This website covers most of the services information relevant to new students: accommodation, representation, faculties, qualifications, parking, etc.
The Tauranga Campus main office is located on the ground floor of 142 Durham Street and contains the main reception area (staffed from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday), the Director, Office Manager, administration offices, School Support Services and Tauranga Education Resource Centre. This reception is also the place to go for information regarding counseling or disability support. The second floor at 142 Durham Street houses the Tauranga branch of the University of Waikato Language Institute. In the basement of 142 is a video conference room and Language Institute resource rooms. Students can access books from both the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic collections and the main University of Waikato collection.
While the Campus is physically removed from Waikato’s main city campus, your Waikato Student’s Union maintains a strong link with all members. Tauranga students are represented on the WSU Board through a specific portfolio held by the WSU Vice President who will commute a minimum of once a month during term time.
