Born and raised in Hamilton, the mountain with which I identify is Pirongia (after leaping off Taranaki), the river with which I identify is Waikato(the whanau held Patea close historically), the lake with which I identify is is Kopuera, and I would have to consider my local hood to be Horahora, Rangiriri. Final papers in BSC(Tech) Resource & Environmental Planning programme. Love, life, music, and nature - where all four merge I like.
This cast of 10 students (Kate Magazinovic, Joy Yuan, Tia Barrett, Sarah Knox, Anya Varezhkina, Bella-Anne Wheeler, Kelsey Tills, Aasha Foster,
Arianne Zilberberg, Rachael Elliott) wowed the crowds who packed out the performance space at the Wel Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts (always fine arts going on there, bookmark it) in the Tekecom Playhouse.
Much thanks has to go out to the supporters, Calder and Lawson House of Travel, Rodney Wayne, Burger Fuel, The Body Shop, and the many others behind the scenes, great one.
All of the profit made from The Waikato Student Union’s production of The Vagina Monologues will go to charity, 90% to Rape Crisis Hamilton and the remaining 10% to Power to the women and girls of the People’s Republic of Congo. If you missed out on your opportunity to catch this, put it in your diary for next year, or rustle up some support and scheme up a performance.
Awesome work Anya and Sarah for pulling it all together.
Waikato Students' Union, where lookin after the people is everyday business... and making things happen counts.
