Kia ora koutou ano,
Wednesday 23 July 2008 will go down in history as the day former Waikato Uni student Potaua Biasiny-Tule ably assisted by his wahine Nikolasa, Huhana Rokx, CEO of Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori, David Griswold & Ashley Gorringe (another ex Waikato student )of Google.Hawea Vercoe and students from his TeKura Kaupapa Maori o Rotoiti, Dr Te Taka Keegan - Lecturer Waikato University and Fearless a world class dance group, launched Google Maori to the world. Tenei te mihi nunui kia koutou katoa mo to mahi uaua, to mahi whakahirahira mo tatou katoa. Potaua, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Wish I'd scored one of those Google Tshirts and flash drives. You are a great presenter and MC and even though you are now a parent of two, you are definitely still a rangatahi at heart - don't ever change. For those of you who never got to know Potaua check out his site http://www.tangatawhenua.com/.
Just retracing my steps. My day started out with the usual weetbix, toast and tea breakfast before I dashed out the door, jumped in the van and headed for Rotorua. Following the launch, lunch was provided - delicious pumpkin soup, bread savouries, cakes and sandwiches. Take $10 for the 'free' feed. People were aware that I was 'living like a student' but didn't understand why I had to pay for meals provided as an expected part of such events. A couple said when they were students they'd go grazing where ever there was food, and were able to survive because of that practice. Its called being innovative.
I left Rotorua around 1.00 and was back in Hamilton to attend a political meeting at 3.00. I had a cup of coffee for afternoon tea. $3. That meeting lasted until 6.00 so dinner was provided from the Chinese Takeaway down the road.
I've really blown my budget now - $23 for food plus $11.00 return for the trip.
Thank goodness its pay day on Thursday - I can pay off my overdraft. I'm going to leave WSU to tally up what I have spent. I hope they can read my scrawl. I see from Moira's text that this challenge finishes at 1.00pm on Thursday. Will leave my final comments till then. Po marie
